TOP 4 ANTICIPATED RELEASES OF 2019

Last year I read very few 2018 releases (read: one) and whilst I don’t generally fixate on new releases a lot anyway, I do like to read some. So, I thought I would share with you guys 4 books which I am waiting to read when they come out this year!

12.03: The Bird King by G Willow Wilson

This looks like it will be a fascinating fantasy story, mixing elements which I love (like Jinn) with things I have never read about before (such as Muslim Spain).

“…a stunning new novel that tells the story of Fatima, a concubine in the royal court of Granada, the last emirate of Muslim Spain, and her dearest friend Hassan, the palace mapmaker…” (Goodreads)

02.04: Descendant of the Crane by Joan He

The author described this as a Chinese drama minus the girl-on-girl hate and competing harems, which sounds pretty good to me. I love reading fantasy which incorporate a distinct culture (such as historical China in this case), so I’m keeping my eye out for this one.

“Tyrants cut out hearts. Rulers sacrifice their own.

Princess Hesina of Yan has always been eager to shirk the responsibilities of the crown, but when her beloved father is murdered, she’s thrust into power, suddenly the queen of an unstable kingdom. Determined to find her father’s killer, Hesina does something desperate: she engages the aid of a soothsayer—a treasonous act, punishable by death… because in Yan, magic was outlawed centuries ago…” (Goodreads)

03.09: Crescent City by Sarah J. Maas

Okay, so this doesn’t have a cover yet and the ^^release date is not definite yet, but I honestly can’t wait for this!!!!!!!!!!

“Set in a world where humans struggle to survive amid intricate hierarchies of demons, shifters, angels, and countless other magical creatures, Crescent City tells the story of half-human, half-Sidhe Bryce Quinlan. After the brutal slaying of her best friend, Bryce joins forces with a powerful warrior-angel to hunt down the killer, leading them toward a treacherous enemy that could destroy the fabric of their world.

The series will feature an array of captivating new characters, including a spitfire heroine who will stop at nothing to avenge her friend and protect her vibrant city, an epic world on the brink of war, and Maas’ signature heart-pounding romance.” (Goodreads)

05.11: The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern

42730332

I’ve been needing this book since I finished reading The Night Circus to be honest. I can’t wait to see what Erin’s new book will be like!!!

“Zachary Ezra Rawlins is a graduate student in Vermont when he discovers a strange book hidden in the library stacks. As he turns the pages, entranced by tales of lovelorn prisoners, key collectors, and nameless acolytes, he reads something strange: a story from his own childhood.

Bewildered by this inexplicable book and desperate to make sense of how his own life came to be recorded, Zachary uncovers a series of clues — a bee, a key, and a sword — that lead him to a masquerade party in New York, to a secret club, and through a doorway to a subterranean library, hidden far below the surface of the earth…” (Goodreads)

So that’s it for today! What 2019 releases are you looking forward to?! Be sure to let me know what I’m missing out on. Happy reading, Keira x.

P.S. Who else keeps writing the date as 2019?!

2019 PLANS AND HOPES (Personal, Books, and Music!)

Hello everyone and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I honestly can’t believe it’s 2019… I turn 18 this year?! Anywayy I decided to combine all of my beginning-of-the-year type posts into one post because it just worked better like that so let’s begin

PERSONAL RESOLUTIONS

  1. Go to the gym at least once a week. I have a gym membership and usually I try to go at least three times a month in order to not waste  money, but I want to make it into a habit  and always go to the gym on Tuesdays.
  2. Sleep and wake up at the same time each day. Obviously this is dependent on a number of factors, but I want to aim  to go to bed between 11-12 each night and wake up at 6am.
  3. Study and do homework better. I have had issues in 2018 where I get behind in notes etc. and  procrastinate, and it makes me quite stressed and leaves me behind.  So in order to tackle this there are a couple of things I’m going to do: take notes in smaller chunks e.g. by subtopic rather than unit so that  it’s easier to finish each section, and do just 45 minutes of homework  as soon as I get home in order to hopefully get me in the zone a bit.

READING RESOLUTIONS

  1. Read at least three books a month. I had a very slow reading year in 2018,  hence why there has been a lack of book-related posts on this blog thus far, and whilst I don’t intend to force myself to read  upwards of 100 books as I managed in  2016 and 2017, I do want to read a bit  more than I did in 2018, and more consistently rather than in sudden spikes.
  2. Get my TBR below 40 books. It’s currently at 72 books, largely because of how little I read this year and how much rereading I did. The  number is SO high and it annoys me a little, especially as I know how much I’m missing out by not reading some of them. So I want to  decrease my TBR to a somewhat  more manageable size.
  3. Catch up on new releases and sequels in series. I didn’t really keep an eye on new releases in 2018 and sequels often  got left behind as well, so I want to keep up with both this year so I  don’t miss lots of amazing books.

MUSIC RESOLUTIONS

  1. Listen to more western music. Now it isn’t that I don’t listen to much western  music, but more that I don’t listen to much  variety… I often end up sticking to a few artists,  especially because I don’t particularly like  western hiphop, nor am I a big  fan of EDM. Therefore, I want to make an effort this year to  find and discover artists that are less known with amazing music.
  2. Make better playlists. Now, in 2018 I had a good playlist for summer, but the rest of the time I had to sort of go and pick songs to listen to or just listen to songs on  shuffle, which wasn’t as enjoyable, so I want to invest a bit of time in  putting together more playlists.

Also, I’m thinking of doing a “what I want to see in K-Pop for 2019” post if that interests anyone?!

BLOGGING RESOLUTIONS

  1. Post at least twice a week and interact more with the blogs I follow (+ find some new blogs to follow!)
  2. Do more mini reviews for music. (reviewing songs, not albums) This is because sometimes I don’t really have time or desire to listen to and review a whole album, but I want to review a couple of different  title tracks, or if a song is just a single. This way I can review more  music, with less pressure for me!
  3. Review more books that I read for pleasure, as opposed to books I received in exchange for a review. I want to share the books I loved with the world, not just the ones I am obliged to review!

If you feel like helping me out, suggest some blogs for me to check out!

AND THAT’S IT! WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS THIS YEAR? Do let me know! Happy New Year, Keira x.
