Put A Smile On Your Face

One of the best things to do when you’re feeling down is to first listen to music that will help you cry it out and then listen to infectiously fun music. Equally, one of the best things to do if you’re in a good mood is to celebrate by listening to some good music, so today I’m going to share six songs with you that are guaranteed to put a smile on your face!

Bruno Mars- The Lazy Song

Don’t feel like picking up my phone, so leave a message at the tone, ’cause today I swear I’m not doing anything.

Apart from having one of the strangest music videos, this song is just a little bit weird and a lot of fun all around. It perfectly embodies what we feel like when we just can’t be bothered to get out of bed or being a normal, functioning human being.

ASTRO- Hide and Seek

Hide carefully, I might see you because you shine brighter than anyone else.

Okay so this music video is so interesting to watch and the plot is kind of bittersweet, but in any case, this song is probably one of the purest, happiest things to come out of a boy group and I’m kind of in love. Trust me, this song will grow on you and then you will find it stuck in your head and you will be dancing even if you haven’t listened to it in a week.

The Rembrandts- I’ll Be There For You

It’s like you’re always stuck in second gear when it hasn’t been your day, your week, your month or even your year, but I’ll be there for you.

So I haven’t actually watched FRIENDS (shock, horror, I know, I will eventually), but this song is excellent. It’s a kind of rocky theme tune that is my absolute favourite kind of theme tune and it’s so comforting and sweet as well!

TWICE- KNOCK KNOCK

No need for that gold key or get lucky, if you truly mean it everything’s gonna be okay.

Okay so if you know anything about K-Pop, you know that TWICE are just completely owning feel-good, cute, girly songs at the moment and I actually don’t like many of their songs, but this one is just masterful. It’s catchy, but not annoying and it’s just incredibly fun.

Taylor Swift- Shake It Off

But I keep cruising, can’t stop, won’t stop moving, it’s like I got this music in my mind, sayin’ it’s gonna be alright.

This song really needs no introduction, but it’s a great song to dance (or shake) along to and it’s got a really positive and freeing message as well!

N.Flying- Hot Potato

If you could be born again, what would you be? A potato.

N.Flying’s recent music is just basically a meme in song form. They’re fun, funky, and a little bit ridiculous. The MVs are also hilarious as well. Definitely a good choice to put a smile on your face, as long as you don’t mind feeling the urge to listen to the song on repeat for the next month or so!

So that’s it for this post!

What kind of music do you study to?

Hi there! I don’t know about everyone else, but I go to college on Wednesday! (FYI: that’s UK college, so 16-19 not university 😉 )

With going back to school, whatever kind of school you’re doing, that means you’re going to be doing a lot of studying and if you’re anything like me you need to listen to something whilst you work!

Some people love listening to regular music, whereas others can’t listen to anything with lyrics in it!

Me? I’m a bit of a mix. Most of the time I can listen to whatever, but if I’m writing an English essay I cannot listen to German music and vice versa, because my brain will desperately try to switch between the two languages and that just doesn’t end well!

In any case, today I thought I would share with you seven different things I like to listen to when I’m studying!

#1: Ambient Sounds and Classical Music

This is a great option for people who need music to stop them getting distracted by the outside world, but also find themselves easily distracted by music itself. There are tons of classical music and ambient sound playlists on platforms like Spotify, so I definitely recommend browsing them and finding some you like!

#2: Modern Instrumental Music

Firstly, let me just say that Lindsey Stirling is an incredible artist and I love her so much! Modern instrumental music like this is a great option for people who can’t listen to lyrics when studying, but want something a bit more modern or engaging than classical music or ambient sounds. You might want to avoid watching the music videos on YouTube though, because Lindsey Stirling’s music videos are gorgeous and you will end up watching them for hours… trust me, I know!

#3: Upbeat, Catchy Songs

This is the kind of music I like to listen to when I’m studying for maths, because there’s so little writing involved and also because I struggle a bit with maths, so some fun music makes studying a little bit less stressful. These sorts of songs are great for giving you a three-minute dance break whilst still actually revising!

#4: Songs to Encourage You

Sometimes studying is hard, but songs telling you that it’s okay to struggle and it will be okay are just what you need to get through that one really hard maths question or finally start your English essay!

#5: Playlists Of Unfamiliar Songs

If you don’t know a song very well, you’re less likely to get up and dance to it! Or maybe you just want to find some new music to listen to. Either way, just pick a playlist randomly on Spotify (maybe not a Top 40 one) and listen away! I quite like this one because it has some softer music and I often like to listen to it when I’m reading!

#6: Your Favourite New Songs

On the complete opposite side from my previous option, why not make studying fun with some of your new favourite releases!

#7: Music in a Foreign Language!

So maybe you’re one of those people who can’t listen to English music (or whatever language you speak) because you get distracted or start writing the lyrics. Why not listen to some Spanish music, some Japanese music or a Chinese song like the one above?! Really, anything that you don’t know the language well enough to distract you!

So that’s it for this post! I hope you enjoyed.
